Photojournalism can sound pretty self explanatory. Its about doing journalism within a photo right? True, but I also think its a little bit more then that. To me photojournalism is the idea of capturing a moment, catching an image that shows an event, or an emotion, and can range from all sorts of different things. To me photojournalism is our past and our present. At first when I think of the word photojournalism I think of pictures in action. I think of pictures at wars, and black and white photos, and a lot of how we learn and know about our history is through photojournalism. But it is also our present as well and still is used all the time in even more extravagent ways today. I also think photojournalism is a great way to portray emotion, and actually make you feel like your at an event. Without photojournalism, if there were just news articles without the photos, I don't think people would get the full affect of what the situation was like, or who was there, the people, the actions, the details, it all would not be portrayed nearly as well as actually seeing photojournalistic pictures.
I think my picture below is a great depiction of catching emotion, and making you understand the situation and even feel like you are there. This picture is what photojournalism is and means to me. Photojournalism allows people to see, and understand what is going on around the world, in other countries, to see and even feel what other people are going through, like this picture does for me.
